Job Description

Qualifications:
  • AA or equivalent experience 3+ years’ experience in mechanical assembly, machine building, or a similar technical role.
  • Proven ability to accurately read, understand, and apply information from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical assembly instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience with the fabrication and assembly of mechanical structures, especially using T-slot aluminum extrusion systems (like 8020).
  • Skilled in precise measurement, cutting, drilling, and tapping holes in various materials, primarily aluminum. Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Experience measuring, cutting, fabricating and installing frames, enclosures, aluminum mesh grills, hinges, and door handles on industrial enclosures or machine guards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and dexterity for working with small and large components.
  • Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Experience installing safety devices such as Keyence interlock switches and safety light curtains.
  • Basic knowledge of wiring electrical cables and panels (medium and high voltage, specifically 3-phase systems) for machinery or demonstrated ability to safely work around industrial electrical components.
  • Familiarity with various types of machine guarding and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI).

Responsibilities:
  • Assembly and Fabrication: Perform complex mechanical assembly of safeguarding equipment (guards, enclosures, etc.) for cable production machinery, strictly adhering to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Reading Technical Documents: Accurately interpret and work from detailed assembly instructions, mechanical drawings, and engineering prints to determine proper assembly sequences, material requirements, and component specifications.
  • Aluminum Extrusion Fabrication (8020): Fabricate and assemble custom mechanical frames using 8020 aluminum extrusions and related components. This includes measuring, cutting, drilling, and tapping holes with precision.
  • Door and Panel Fabrication: Precisely measure and cut components such as aluminum mesh grills, solid panels, and polycarbonate windows. Install functional hardware including hinges, door handles, latches, and gas springs onto guard doors and access points.
  • Tool Operation: Proficiently use a variety of hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measures, levels) and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, grinders) safely and effectively.
  • Quality Control: Inspect components and completed assemblies for defects, ensuring they meet design specifications and functional requirements before installation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and report potential issues in assembly procedures or design to engineering for continuous improvement.
  • Workspace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
