Job Description
Qualifications:
- BSEE or BS in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field (Master's degree preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in optical design and engineering, preferably in manufacturing or R&D environment for precision optics
- Proficiency Zemax or Code V
- Strong understanding of geometrical optics, physical optics, and optical materials science
- Hands-on experience with optical metrology equipment (interferometers, autocollimators, spectrometers)
- Familiarity with optical component manufacturing processes (grinding, polishing, coating, mounting)
- Experience with opto-mechanical design and packaging, including thermal and structural analysis
- Familiarity with CAD software for mechanical layout and design
- Proficiency in programming language for data analysis and automation (Python, MATLAB)
- Experience with laser-based systems, high-power laser optics, and knowledge of ISO standards
Responsibilities:
- Design, model, and optimize optical systems, components (lenses, mirrors, prisms, filters), and assemblies using industry-standard optical design software
- Develop and maintain statistical and sequential tolerance analyses and error budgets to ensure manufacturability and system performance
- Interface with manufacturing team to troubleshoot process issues, optimize fabrication and coating procedures, and ensure design-for-manufacturability
- Define and implement optical testing and alignment procedures, and analyze metrology data to verify component and system performance
- Prepare detailed technical reports, engineering drawings, test plans, and support New Product Introduction from concept through full-scale production
