Quality Technician Specialist I
Job Description
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or vocational school equivalent preferred
- Two-year degree from college or technical school in technical discipline highly desirable, or 3-5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination
- Ability to use micrometer, digital caliper, protractor, and scale
- Ability to use Optical Comparator
- Ability to use or learn to use Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment for product verification
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Inspector Certification desirable, preferably through ASQ
- Ability to develop inspection programs for CMM equipment desirable
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs or other forms of charting with minimal direction preferred
- Ability to fundamentally understand metric equivalents preferred
Responsibilities:
- Examine material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds, and compare product with specifications and drawings to ensure completion of assembly
- Verify specified dimensions of product or material using variety of gages, instruments, and equipment, and perform material inspection as part of receiving process
- Reject defective parts and mark type of defect on part, container, or inspection tag as applicable
- Calibrate equipment and measuring devices as required by calibration system and perform gage and instrument repair as part of calibration process
- Perform setup and in-process verification of product, assist in machine setup and operation in production areas, and provide quality training and mentoring to production personnel
