Job Description
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 5+ years experience in robotics, automation, NPD, or complex electromechanical products
- SolidWorks (3D modeling, large assemblies, configurations, drawings, revision control)
- Mechanical design for electromechanical hardware including sheet metal parts and assemblies
- Manufacturing release experience including prototype-to-production ramp, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and production documentation
- Hands-on build, test, verify/validate, and troubleshoot hardware through DVT and production.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: sheet metal, machining, welding, injection molding, and cable routing.
- Experience with ECO processes, BOM management, and supplier/manufacturing documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Design and validate mechanical and electromechanical components for autonomous mobile robot platforms from concept through production release.
- Own CAD models, drawings, GD&T application, tolerance stack-ups, and BOM documentation to support manufacturing release.
- Lead prototype builds and validation activities, including DVT and reliability testing, and drive root-cause troubleshooting to closure.
- Partner with manufacturing, suppliers, and contract manufacturers on DFM/DFA, cost, quality, and scalability through pilot and production.
- Support design reviews, change control (ECO), and documentation processes; communicate technical tradeoffs and status to cross-functional teams.
